memorial day.

i awoke on the floor of my mothers after a sleepover with 4generations (grandma, mom/nanna, me, the boy) and the aunt. i slipped out early leaving a sleeping family to returned home to clean...while i had the motivation. and transforming before my eyes was a cute little place i usually call home (but that lately i'd been quite annoyed with due to all the clutter to pick up/sort/trash).
the plan {my plan} was to then do my homework miles (which i did) to get all hot and bothered...and then swipe the boy for a little lake swim. and after our adventure of FINDING the part of the lake we wanted to dive into, we found it was closed. BUT there was a jazzy, hoppin' little place just down the way so we followed the crowd. to a dog park. although we thought it was just a place where a lot of people had dogs. and it smelled. bad.
but the sun was shinning, and it was hot as heck...so we were committed to finding the water and swimming...no matter what.
and a regular directed us (through the most awful smelling trail) to where we should leave our things, and showed us the current to hop into in the lake and it will push/guide/take us back to our stuff. sounds fun, yes? we were all for a little excitement.
we complained the whole hiking way. cause i don't even really know that i could describe the dirty dog and hot poo mixture well enough for you. ;)
and even as we were almost chickening out cause the water was so blasted cold, a dog peed in the water (totally squatted) in front of my cute boy...who then walked right through it sloshing his legs around. at which point i decided what the heck (cause if i stayed in that one spot there might be vomit involved) and plopped us into the current.
want to know something?
it was fun.
it was a sweet moment.
the boy was loving me so.
and i was happy for enduring the filth.
in fact, that time in the current was bliss.
we high-fived for enduring and doing it anyway.
and then we quickly got to our car, and sped to the nearest swimming pool.
showers + feast at nanna's = a goooood night's sleep in the picked up tree house
