tra lala la laaaaa.

do you know what wonderful thing my cute boy did today?
this afternoon I scooped him into my car (walkie talkies and all) from the middle of an intense hide and seek game which included a million (or maybe it was just 5) 10 year old boys. we headed across the street, down a highway, and up a hill, hopped out of our car, walked up to the massive building, and walked through the doors that opened to a wonderland of grandma's and grandpa's. we hadn't been to such a place in at least a year...and we were due. i must say that a nursing home is quite a lively place. there is never a dull moment, particularly when there are children, babies, christmas carols, pianos, bells, and a tuba. you heard me right...a tuba. and the tuba had an 11 year old blowing the likes of jingle bells and such (it was awesome!). and the piano encountered the fingers of 5, 6, and 8 year olds. the bells were jingled by ages 4-10 (including the skills of my own cute boy...perhaps next time we'll get those guitar strings strumming!). smiles spread from ear to ear, eyes filled with tears, fragile bodies danced in their chairs (some with wheels and some not), and the familiar words of christmas were sung by all who remembered them. it was beautiful. i wanted to have hours to visit. perhaps we will go back. their sweet sweet spirits are etched in my heart as is the image of my alec bringing such joy to them. we should do these things more often.
no really.
