can you feel it?

my favorite part of the day is morning. i love the fresh start, new day, new-beginning-feel. i love mondays for the same reason- the newness of a week. i also like the start of a new month, new school year, new semester, or the ultimate: a new year.
it's also the time of planning, preparing, and even implementing. there's no failure, no exhaustion, no anxiousness ready for it to be over and onto the next.
i'm kind of feeling that about the christmas season, too. it's a new month...a magical month. it's a new holiday season, and the traditions (new and old) are beautiful to me. it's fun to plan extended family time, even friend time where everyone is on board because it's christmas & you HAVE to be with those you love at some point.
it's also the time of year in texas where the weather finally begins to change, cool off, and even smell different. the evenings come earlier with darkness, leaves have covered the ground, and the wind bringing in the cooler air is blowing them everywhere. it's beautiful.
my home is filled with christmas. my room is being gutted more and more by the day. i am down to a bed and a dresser (and a big ol filing cabinet, but i'm trying not to include that). and now i've recently moved in a sewing table that my mother is passing down to me. she got it from my grandmother who sewed on it for years after getting it from her mother (my great grandmother). and guess who gave it to her? yep, her mother (my great, great grandmother). it's a sweet white table...with no knobs. did you hear that?! it's like heaven. an adorable white table with generations of my creative artsy sewing peeps, and a need for me to add my own self to it by way of new anthropologie knobs!! i don't know if that's how you saw it, but it's SO how i see it. :) hmm...maybe i can get those in my stocking??? and then of course, i'll add my own creations as soon as NannaSanta (my mom) drops in with her bag of goodies, which will include **DRUMROLL** a new sewing machine! i know you're not supposed to know, but i'm old, we were together, and there was just no way around it. yay!
and now i'm off to do dishes, make dinner, and work on my room a bit more before we plop ourselves into bed. i hung out with chatty (a-freakin-dorable) (is that like cussing??) (how many parentheses can i put in this sentence??) (and how many question marks?????) (okay, i'm done) 1st graders today, and i'm pooped.
off to do, before i change my mind and don't...(especially while i'm feeling all christmas season-beginning-of-the-month-magical)
