as you know, my cute boy has a grand obsession with shoes. i don't particularly love all of his choices, but somehow he slips them on his feet and i am instantly converted. he has a way of owning the things he loves that makes me appreciate it in all its unique glory.
with all of that said...this year, preparing for school we had a bit of shoe drama. once the shoes were determined (which I think was sometime in June or July...i'm telling you this is SERIOUS business), there was the long waiting process. we had to let some of that summer growth spurt subside before ordering fall shoes. plus, i highly doubt he would have patiently waited 3 months before wearing them to school. nevertheless, we waited. then we had a little last minute drama and i frantically ordered them the week before school while we awaited with fingers crossed for their arrival before the 1st day. he was slightly traumatized at the possibility of NOT walking into the big red brick school with a NEWjazzy outfit, NEWhaircut, NEWbackpack (filled with NEWsupplies), even those undies and socks all brand spankin'NEW....and then OLDshoes. to my boy, it was unfathomable. however, as that clearly became reality, he did a fantastic job of sucking it up and waiting patiently. after all, they were on their way.

a day early even!
it was a beautiful highly celebrated moment.
he pulled them out of the box, kissed them oh 100 or so times, and then slipped them on his feet.

L yep. rude.
the shoes were too small.
soooo.....back to california the shoes headed and the process of anticipation started all over again. labor day threw off shipping a bit, but they were coming.
one evening, alec told me he was going to hop in the shower and asked if i would make him a big glass of milk for when he got out. it was a deal. he was off to the restroom and i was off to the refrigerator.
they arrived while i was at a meeting, and he surprised me with the news. right next to the pickles.
he was excited to slip on these cold beauties when he got out of the shower. even more excited that they fit. and just beside himself that his 5th grade preparations are now complete. oh, my cute boy.

I just LOVE that you two LOVE shoes.....because SOOOO do I! It would be my dream to go on a shoe shopping spree.....there are some moments in my life, where I put on an outfit and alas it's okay....but would be perfect if only I had the shoes from the picture in my head to complete the ensemble! Ever happen to you?
ummmm...YES! my mom and i spent the day with my aunt yesterday for her birthday, and much of it was geared around shoe shopping. in my perfect world i would have taken atleast 5 pair home with me. and then figured out outfits after the fact! :)
shoes make me happy.
