turning 35, so 53 is just crazy. we spent a couple of days celebrating. one just her and i shopping around, and then a yummy dinner complete with banana splits for dessert with aunt lynn and alec. and then over the weekend she had girl time with some of her closest friends and the daughters. i think she had a great celebration.here are 53 things about her that i hold dear to me:
1.fun 2.spontaneous 3.the best shopper i know 4.friendly 5.creative 6.great eye/vision 7.beautiful eyes (even different from #6) 8.can sell anything 9.likeable 10.isn't afraid to try knew things 11.often can decide something and do it 12.can throw quite a special celebration...she's a great party planner 13.can sew anything 14.a wonderful embroiderer 15.can paint furniture and distress beautifully 16.and reupholster, recover, and recreate anything 17.is a great sewer of my cute boy's patches onto his scout uniform 18.is wonderful to sew whatever i muster up in my mind....because i so cannot sew just yet 19.makes fantastic halloween pumpkins 20.has an adorable collection of christmas tree skirts and ornaments and such 21.has an equally adorable collection of easter items (decoupage egg ornaments, fabric scrap eggs, pillows, quilt bags/purses, and more) 22.is worthy of her own etsy shop or some outlet in which others can learn more of her if we ever get the nerve or time 23.has a great appreciation for vintage...the stories, the personal treasure even more than just the look 24.holds her grandmother in the highest regard (loves her, and tries to emulate much of her endearing qualities and talents) 25.is sentimental 26.loves gift giving 27.is a fabulous package decorator 28.who am i kidding...is a fabulous decorator! 29.rachel ashwell and her could be friends for sure (my mom is alllll shabby chic) 30.can even paint on canvas...she once took an art class and blew us away with her painting of fruit on her 1st try (she is a talented woman of the arts) 31.is a fun nanna 32.will go and do anything at any time (it's so fun! and something mostly only she and i will do. others tend to drop out at some point. although alec is quite the trooper...i think he loves it, too) 32.was a good, attentive mother for many years 33.was my classmom, brownie leader, and cheerleading mom 34. she was at every game, competition, event, party, and practice; and made sure i went to the coolest summer camps ever 35.she knew every friend i had 36.she read mcbroom's ghost to me (probably the longest children's book known to man...which is likely to be the reason i always wanted her to read it to me) over and over again 37.has always been the BEST at waking someone up (she is a morning person and had the most cheery, delightful way of waking me up...i will always be a morning person because of it. and alec notices if i don't wake him up the same mary poppins-like way) 38.can thrift shop like no other 39.she played barbie's with me almost every time i asked (i was an only child so she had to) 40.i loved to read growing up and i think she bought me every book known to man (i still have them ALL) 41.she has rubbed my flat aching feet approximately 4,552 times (maybe more) 42.she was there when my baby was born (even a little spastic and hysterical...but that's so her personality) 43.she has a little testimony of my church growing inside her (that she's even okay with admitting) 44.she once remodeled an entire house with her own 2 hands, got it in amazing perfect beautiful magazine worthy condition, and then couldn't afford the rent to live in it...that was a bummer 45.she reads magazines every night before bed...like my grandma, and me, and my aunt (i come by my magazine collection honestly) 46.she's a wonderful cook (especially all the down home cookin' you can't eat all the time) 47.she survived Dell training with no technology background and then sold the heck out of computers (she is very proud of that. particularly because she didn't even own a computer! but she knew her stuff) 48.she always ends up in a leadership position because she is well liked (if not leading the numbers with her sales) 49.she loves watching movies, and makes a homemade chocolate cake about every week 50.she is quite gray and embracing it...she actually loves it! 51.dreams of living in a cottage some place with seasons and mostly cooler weather to accommodate her hot flashes :) 52.she will give you her last dollar (to a fault even) 53.loves her family
