like the close call a couple of posts ago came back to bite me in the bum. a sneak attack-ish kind of thing. i'm being "borrowed" (as i like to put it) for a school year by a school in need. i'll be back. i'll be back. (i don't really know that i'm allowed to go back)
want to know what to do when you have to knowingly spend 1 last day with 18 five year olds?
or when the clock strikes the dreaded time, the important decision-making-people come into the classroom, and you gather your ducklings to hold a class meeting sitting on the floor together?
and then upon hearing the news 2 immediately cry, others look confused, others look excited, others are picking staples off the floor, and 1 shoots his hand in the air asking if he can hug me...right NOW? and then a sweet sweet boy asks "was i not a good kindergartner?" it is true that your heart can break a bit after 5days. don't test it...trust me.
and then they tour their NEW classroom to meet their NEW teacher and their NEW friends, and you are smiling so big and reassuring them of how fantastic it's going to be...........and then you realize you're actually crying at the same time. (how confusing for them to read me)
want to know what you do the moment you realize said school actually doesNOT need you? approximately 2hrs after notifying parents/1hr after notifying children, and no one is really sure what to do? and so we wait. you know...day to day, but likely til after labor day?
and so this classroom i've been staring at and contemplating since july and recently transformed into my giant workspace (i like to look at is as where i get to do my art {of teaching})....and it is my workspace + the workspace of 18 little people....is now the same space i am PACKING UP.
want to know what to do as you process it all? and wrap your brain around it all? (cause it's not really possible for this slooooooooow processing girl{me})
you hang out with the likes of this girl for 1:
soooo pretending to be shy:
we also curled hair, played with toys, watched Tabor (the lizard), and watched MaryPoppins (which is impossible to do without singing, dancing and feeling "practically perfect in every way")
and lots and lots of singing.......(at first you'll mainly hear barbie, but wait for it cause joslyn is ADORABLE when she sings)
