road trip.

saturday, in the dark of the morning we slipped out of our tree house.
alec was wrapped in his fluffy skateboard-bedded down comforter with a dinosaur pillow carrying clothes (dressed in pjs). we hopped in our trusty carro (got.to.love.that.thing!) and headed east.
can i just tell you what an invigorating feeling it is to get in the car and just go?! go go go? it was a sweet surprise that i had not anticipated. after all, i was headed to hug candace and meet her cute new girl...there were bigger things to think about! but what a simple and beautiful feeling it was to be in the car with alec driving through the trees that lined the path to houston as the sun came into the sky. literally, the sun rose in front of our car. we were watching it move...it was amazing. i don't think i'll ever forget that moment.

nor will i forget the way candace looked...so darn pretty! who? how? who? does that happen to? who sits in restricted icu with a healing heart, and radiates? candace. she looked beautiful. we had such a good visit and even got to squeeze/sneak/whatever an extra 30minutes of visiting, at which point she then planned a cozy nod off to la la land to do some more healing. she has some important work to do to get home to that baby.

speaking of freakin' precious!!! was i speaking of that? in that way? how else do you emphasize it? okay, well that baby of hers I could not stop staring at, or touching. and i saw the most fascinating of her little personality already developing!! of course it was pointed out to me, but oh. my. word. how fuN!
so much visiting, so much for my spirit, so wonderful.

my cute boy slept the way home, and i shook my head a thousand times to keep my own tired self awake. i then i rolled down the windows, turned up the country music (i needed it that day...and alec was actually requesting music while he slept so i wasn't being rude to the sleeping babe) and sang my way home.
what a rejuvenating day of renewed hope.
and in the dark of the early evening, we slipped back into our home and our everyday life.
