yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

yesterday: we had a yard sale & i cleared out a fantastic chunk of my storage unit. and rather than sitting in the heat, we conquered a grand garage cleaning project helping familia. it felt so good. it was borderline a hoarders garage (like, a customer at the garage sale even said he saw a lady like that once on Oprah! i've totally seen that show and we say it all the time, but it was so funny to hear a stranger say it so bluntly!)...and my car could squeeze into it now. that amazing of a job!

today: after church and a reading challenge issued encouraging us all to be even better, we came home for grilled cheese sandwiches (a Sunday staple) cuddling, and a nap. after a wee 10 minutes or so my mind was racing so fast that my eyes had no choice but to open. i was perplexed about my record keeping during student teaching. i keep everything. e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g, i tell you. it made no since that i only have 2 lessons to put in my portfolio, both science at that. where's all the proof of my fantastic ideas, lessons, and wonderful work of my students??! i only have a few finishing touches for this portfolio that i really feel great about, but the meat of it is my lessons that for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.
until today.
during my 10 minute nap.
hence the reason for my eyes popping open and my feet quickly moving to my "teaching" storage closet on my balcony. i opened the door to the storage closet in this big grand dramatic way as if light was going to shine from it and the big hallelujah was going to be heard by all (all as in ME...cause I was the only one out there). i did a quick scan of the closet filled from floor to ceiling with bags, boxes, storage containers, books, butcher paper, costumes, rugs, flowers, the most random of random all thrown in (literally thrown, shoved, pushed, even held by one hand so I could quickly close the door with the other so that it didn't fall out) over my years of collecting and planning for the beautiful place which I will one day teach.
when what to my wondering eyes did appear?
a rat.
a big, gnarly, obviously been there a while (what with the disintegrating tail and fur everywhere), totally gross rat.
i cautiously proceeded and cleaned out the entire closet. the entire thing!! (the 2nd hallelujah!)
i found 2 boxes and a bag of my student teaching lessons and such...i knew it! (the 3rd hallelujah!)
i'm on a roll! tonight i will complete my portfolio and that will be another grand hallelujah. wherever you are reading this...you just might hear that one!

oh, and you should know that stuart little (or big) is still chillin' there. i'm fantastic and productive and doing good, but i'm not that good. it's enough that I found and cleaned out his completely scattered nest and poo. my maintenance will get another random wacky request from me...to remove stuart from my space.

tomorrow: Alec and I will begin a week long project helping my grandma get her own world, particularly her home, in order. either my mind is already in that mode (hence the garage & storage cleaning and organizing), or i've had some great random preparation...critters and all.
