this year's Easter happenings.

i love this tradition! it was actually gifted to us by a sweet friend once upon a time. the eggs are numbered...and each one holds a scripture and an object telling the story of Easter. we've done this lots of ways. i think my favorite is to do it as a FamilyHomeEvening, and then keep the eggs displayed (we had it on our dining room table this year) as a fun constant reminder.
so we do throw in a few bunny things...

FRIDAYwe had to incorporate a boys night...skateboarding, dodgeball, hide-n-seek, basketball, guitar hero, wrestling, broken items, and cupcakes...which brought on a slew of other things. like the grossest cupcake colors ever, and puppy-dog-smelling-people, and colorful mouths, and lots and lots of laughing.



SATURDAY was our shindig with the cute boy's papa's familia. there was brisket, macaroni salad, and such. there was visiting. there were egg hunts (totally hilarious, memory-making adult egg hunt by the way). and then there was dodgeball. it had been going on outside. but once the cute boy's grandma (below) got involved...it became an event. it was a grand afternoon of several hours of family dodgeball playing. quite fun actually. who knew!

and finally there was SUNDAY. beautiful, beautiful sunday. ours went a little somethin' like this:

sleepover the night before (grandma and nanna shacked up with us for the night)

mom's (my) 5:20am visit with the EasterB.

5:40am trip to the grocery store (it's a long story)
traditional easter basket hunting

breakfast
church: spiritual, joyful, uplifting, and fulfilling (and the cute boy felt amazing in his suit..not to mention the fact that i thought he was stinkin' adorable)

return home to the 2grandma's and the tree house smelling of ham

prepare an egg hunt for the fam (our first one of the sort...totally anaya-inspired...and WAY fun)

i kick the family out of the house for a little walk with the walkie-talkies to hide the grandiose eggs

EGGhunting! searching, digging, pushing, laughing, searching some more, egg opening, prize gift retrieving (i told you it was a cool one), and unanimous consensus that that tradition WILL happen again

grooming (i busted out the cosmetology skills and hooked up my family)

and the cute boy ended his easter with a sleepover with his 2grandma's this time down the street at nanna's (i had to MAKE him change out of his suit pants to go there at 10:30PM! he loves it so)

which means i ended my easter with reflection and guiltless computer time.
