i just have to shout to the world that the cute boy is doing so well! i really think our trips were the perfect opportunity to be plucked out of our emotional bubble we were functioning in.
i always picture a toddler throwing a full on fit...strong emotions taken over, eyes closed tight, screaming, uncontrollable crying, can't breath, nothing will sooth moment. that moment where even mom's voice or touch can't bring them out of it. but once they've worked through it all is well. you know what i'm describing?? well, not that we were showing any of those symptoms, but it was the same moment of time trapped in a particular state of emotion, yet still going to work and school and functioning in the world...just not quite ourselves.
so since our arrival home, that cute boy of mine was commended on his TAKS tests (that means he missed 3 or less!), was okay with a shorter du (some of those easter pics show a shadow behind him making his hair look longer..but I promise it's trimmed up and less well...less), has been the ONLY scout going to his den meetings but he's still having a ball and getting through that Arrow of Light award he'll be getting in May (woohoo!), he had a perfect week of behavior at the ol escuela, AND he brought home an all A report card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (which has been tricky this year...he snuck in his first B's each 9weeks this year)
we've had a little more structure, have not missed a day of reading scriptures!!!! (yessss!), he's started running/training to be a better athlete, and he's feeling so proud of his new suit (which I think adds an extra measure of confidence...and it's a suit- reverent, happy, mature, man of the house suit!). i even have had some opportunities to teach some parenting workshops and it feels so great to be among parents learning and discussing and processing (even as the facilitator I am recharged). and NOW, we are in our last 9weeks of elementary school! i actually learned there is one more TAKS test, but whatever. :) soon our everyday will be engulfed in camp and oh how i can't even wait for that!
goodness how good it feels to see your child thriving! i had no idea how my SELF would be affected. i even have planned a trip to the track today!
happy tuesday.
