so, right or wrong, there was a little pranking done on those weeSTINKERof3rdgraders that i'm teaching right now. i'll admit i have been a bit convinced that they are trying to make me old, gray, stroke out, something. so i may have covered the walls in the classroom with black paper and arranged the desks in test taking mode. and i may have told them that the principal got word the night before that we had to take the readingTAKStest that day and we would begin in about 15minutes. this was perfectly aligned trickery because all the other third grade classes happened to get the same word. and so other campus teachers collaborated and stopped in to say good luck and best wishes and stay calm and you can do it and such. and they kind of started to believe that it might be real.
so we took our restroom break and came back to the room to begin at which point i read the instructions (the real instructions) and passed out their booklet (which my teammate made) which contained only one reading passage. it happened to be about april fools day and how it came to be. they looked up but saw my seriousness and kept going reading, using their strategies proving their answers....bless their little hearts. it was only a few true or false questions (absolutely nothing like the real one) and the last page said something like...gottcha;) oh the cuteness of their little faces!
the best part was that one person would finish and totally look at me quickly with that look of OHMYGOSHAREYOUKIDDINGMEMS.G?!! and i would be ready with a smile, big eyes, and my finger over my mouth pointing to their friends. i think they looooved watching it unfold for their friends the best....they kind of became a part of the trick for a second (you like how i turned that on them??).

i gave the spelling quiz right after we all pulled it together and i got lots of "i'll get you back, Ms.G!" threats written on that quiz. but all i ever really got was the ol "you've got something on your shirt" shenanigans.
i think that was my first april fools joke i've ever played. ever.

Way Too Funny!
Again, you've got to be one of the funnest teachers ever! Why can't you be my Gracie's teacher this year? She was SO dying to play an April Fools joke on her teacher (a carmel covered onion) but Matt and I talked her into giving one to her cousin, because her teacher may not laugh so much!

i meant to say that would be a really great story to tell so do it next year for sure!;)
