today i was catapulted into a perfectly beautiful place by children.
i'm on a bit of a high from this teaching gig i have. you see, january might be the most fabulous month that ever existed for the professional me. (the break, rejuvenation, maturity, my own personal grip 1/2 way through the school year, etc.) my kids and i....we're in a good place. i love them, they love me, they listen(mostly), they trust me, and they are truly engaged(!!!). on friday i asked them to tell me how they feel about where they are in their learning and in our classroom, and just overall about their success as a 3rd grader so far. one of my girls raised her hand and said, "i'm just having so much fun i didn't even know i was learning at the same time!" not that i'm trying to have the party room, but it did make me feel quite accomplished that it wasn't a totally miserable experience!;) this happens to be the same girl who on the first day of school was overheard by another teacher to say, "i thought i wasn't going to like 3rd grade but our teacher is so nice and sweet and innocent!" isn't it funny that she chose those words??? who thinks to describe someone as innocent? especially when you're 8?!
this morning i slipped into the chapel and found my seat next to a cute 5or6 year old boy who was sporting the entire pew solo (his dad had an assignment). i subbed for this cutie's sunday school class a few weeks prior so we were already friends, and he said it was okay for me to sit with him;) he was awesome. in fact, he made my whole morning. he seriously made me smile from the inside out.
then my own cute boy slipped into the seat beside me after his duties and my usual beaming with pride routine began to run through my veins. i adore that boy of mine.
my 4year olds i teach on sunday's are beyond beautiful. i want to bottle up their voices. they seriously have the sweetest voices that ever lived. they are brilliant, so spiritually aware, taught by wonderful families, and darn CUTE. did i mention fewer things make me happier in life than to hear their voices???
it's true that my laundry is not done (almost, but not quite). well, i mean the cleaning part....NOT the putting away (that's a whole other story). i have a few more dishes to clean up and a room to clean. and well, my christmas tree is lit as i type, as are all the other decorations perfectly in place as though we're still anticipating the big jolly guy. perhaps we are living like elves over here.......happy living a life of/for/like children.
i get a new darling tomorrow that just might rock our world a tad. hopefully she'll feel the goodness of what's going on instead and decide to go with it rather than fight it. life is just tricky sometimes.
nightie noddle,

This is why we are kindered. I just love children. It's true, their voices just draw me in (& their pronunciations!). You are blessing the lives of so many, many children right now. You are doing God's finest work. I love you!
